What sets the UCU School of Medicine apart from other institutions is our commitment to producing a new generation of healthcare professionals with a unique combination of qualities. Building upon UCU’s established reputation for nurturing individuals with integrity, critical thinking skills, and independent judgment, we emphasize a Christian perspective throughout our education programs. This distinctive approach ensures that our graduates embody strong ethical values and moral principles, making them exceptional healthcare providers in Uganda and beyond.
Although physically located at Mengo Hospital, the university teaching hospital, the UCU School of Medicine remains an integral part of UCU’s academic ecosystem. The facilities, including classrooms, offices, and laboratories, have been renovated to provide an optimal learning environment. Furthermore, the seat of the Faculty of Health Sciences will be situated in the former premises of the Church of Uganda Planning, Development, and Rehabilitation department, creating a dedicated space for medical education and research.
Since signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in December 2016, we have made significant progress in preparing for the establishment of the medical school. The facilities are undergoing final touches, and we are eagerly awaiting inspection by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). The curriculum has already received approval from the NCHE, highlighting our readiness to commence operations.
Choosing UCU as your university for medicine offers a multitude of advantages. UCU enjoys a strong reputation in various fields, and our graduates are highly sought after for their integrity, professionalism, and adherence to ethical values. The overwhelming interest expressed by prospective students inquiring about admission to our medical school is a testament to the growing demand for UCU graduates in the healthcare sector.
At the UCU School of Medicine, our programs equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values required to excel in their respective fields.
